What is ESC’s Fall Soccer All About?

Escondido Soccer Club (ESC) strives to develop integrity and mutual respect through athletic competition within a safe, fun, and supportive environment.

Fall soccer registration will be open 06/01/2020-08/29/2020. Any registrations after this time will have a $10 late fee and be placed on a waiting list.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, registration can only be completed online this year. There will not be any walk-up registrations.

Risk-Free Registration!  We are honoring 100% refunds until 8/29 if Cal-South cancels the season or you wish to withdraw your child.  After that, any refunds for season cancellation will be prorated by month since the Club incurs expenses for uniforms, league fees, referees, etc. See below for Refund Policy.

Teams will be formed by the end of August.  Coaches will reach out to their Rec players during the first week of September, and Return-to-Play training can start after Labor Day.  Games will begin in October and run through November 22nd, with some double-header games.

Times, days, and location for training are all chosen by the coach. Most teams will have weekly training sessions at Frances Ryan Park, with some teams at Washington Park or Kit Carson Park.  Most divisions will play their games at Ryan Park.

Escondido Soccer Club has been following all Return-to-Play health and safety COVID-19 protocols for our competitive teams since May, and will do the same for the Rec teams.

Due to activity restrictions caused by Covid-19, we are unable to hold Player Evaluations for U9-U14 this year. We typically use evaluations to determine player development and create teams. Coaches also join in to make notes for an upcoming draft night. But this year due to limitations, ESC will create teams using the following format:

  • Children of Coaches and Assistant Coaches will be assigned to their teams unless requested otherwise
  • For all other players we will review their playing history including years of experience and any former involvement in All-Stars or competitive

The objective is to create balanced teams that can provide for a fun and competitive season.  Once teams are formed, the Commissioner is the only person that can change the composition of any team. We are optimistic this new team selection process for U9-U14 will be helpful.  Thank you for your understanding.

For U6-U12, games will be played throughout the day on Saturdays.  For U14-U19, games could be played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday because these teams will travel to other San Diego cities to play.

The end of season tournament for U8-U14 will take place during weeknights in early December.  Timing for All-Star player nominations is TBD.

Refund Policy:

Risk-Free Registration!  We are honoring 100% refunds until 8/29 if Cal-South cancels the season or you wish to withdraw your child.  After that, any refunds for season cancellation will be prorated by month since the Club incurs expenses for uniforms, league fees, referees, etc.

The Escondido Soccer Club has a long history of providing recreational and competitive soccer for youth in the Escondido area.  In 1976, North County Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) was formed as a corporation in the City of Escondido, one of the first youth soccer organizations in North San Diego County. Over the years, NCYSA has evolved into the Escondido Soccer Club, including our competitive division of ESC FC Heat.

The Escondido Soccer Club is a NON-PROFIT that strives to provide programs to benefit all young soccer players that want to take their skills to a higher level. Our programs are designed to give all players this opportunity to compete in an environment that will give them the chance to succeed.  The Escondido Soccer Club is fully committed to help develop each player, as an individual and team player and we will strive to make that happen.

As our by-laws state, fees “shall only be in an amount sufficient to defray the actual cost of the proper management, supervision, acquisition, and protection of the property and facilities of ESC.”

Therefore, it is with this in mind that the Escondido Soccer Club refund policy has been written.  Below is a summary of our Refund Policy for the recreational league if the season gets cancelled or shut down prior to us being able to participate in the full season due to COVID-19 related events. If our season plays in full, there are NO REFUNDS.

Recreational League Refund Policy for 2020

The following table shows what is not refundable by certain dates if our season ends by December 2020:

REFUND POLICY by Age divisionNon Refundable as of September  8, 2020Non Refundable as of October 8, 2020Non Refundable as of November 8, 2020Non Refundable as of December 8, 2020
2016-2015$  80.00$  105.00$ 135.00$  160.00
2014-2011$  90.00$  120.00$ 150.00$  180.00
2010-2002$105.00$  140.00$ 175.00$  210.00

At this point, all uniforms have been purchased, field permits are being paid for weekly use, City fees are being paid, league registration to Cal South, Presidio and Affinity are being paid, Coaches fees are being paid and many other expenses are being incurred at this time because we believe there will be a season for both competitive and recreational players.

Thank you for your understanding as we move forward in this difficult time. Our ultimate goal is to provide the opportunity to play soccer in an educational, fun and safe environment.

All refund requests must be emailed to the Director of Recreational (fcira@escondidosoccerclub.org).  On the subject line, please add your child’s name and date of birth. In the email, please write a brief summary of the reason for the cancellation. If the refund request is approved by the Director of Rec, your refund will be mailed to you in approximately 4 weeks.

Refund requests do not guarantee a full refund after 8/29.  While refunds due to season cancellation or Covid concerns will be processed, the following are invalid refund requests that do not qualify for a refund:

  • Not placed on the same team as your Buddy Request (requests are not guaranteed)
  • Not placed on a team at a specific practice field
  • Not placed on a team with a specific practice day/time
  • Not placed on a team with a specific coach
  • Overbooking your player (e.g. registered in too many after school programs)
